Aria maestosa midi driver1/4/2024 My concern in posting it is that even though it is a freely available MIDI, it is a MIDI to what is probably a copywritten piece of music. Roland SD-80 Studio Canvas for MIDI output Here is the same passage played correctly by Aria Maestosa:ħ96241.245 To Port 1 Note OffđĜ♯4Đ <- total 8 on, 8 offħ96242.749 To Port 1 Note OffđĜ♯4Đ <- total 8 on, 8 off Here is the monitor output as played by Reaper, with my comments:ħ94669.433 To Port 1 Note OffęĜ♯4Đ <- total 8 on, 5 offħ94670.933 To Port 1 Note OffęĜ♯4Đ <- total 7 on, 6 off Using MIDI monitor, it is clear that there are not enough note-off commands for the C#4 notes in the first two groups. I've played the file through other software, both to the SD-80 (Aria Maestosa) and software GM emulation (Quicktime Player 7, which has its own set of issues but not this one). Scrubbing through the notes in the MIDI editor does not exhibit the problem! Slowing down the tempo does not correct the problem. Note that the problem only occurs in realtime playback. You can solo channel 9 and start playback just before measure 23.4 and observe the problem. there are more note-on commands than corresponding note-off commands. There is a group of notes at measures 23.4 and 24.3 that both have stuck notes - i.e. There are two tracks in particular that are getting stuck notes, MIDI channels 4 and 9, but the notes on 9 more reliably produce the problem. There seems to be only one really good version of it floating around so if you have the one you know it. The test setup is using a specific MIDI file which I doubt I can post but it can be found on various MIDI download sites - the Star Wars theme by John Williams. I'm playing back a MIDI file from Reaper directly to a Roland SD-80 Studio Canvas, using the class-compliant interface, not the vendor-specific driver, although it seems that the problem should show up regardless of the destination. Probably shear luck at all that I found it. However, in setting up and testing workflows, I discovered a problem in MIDI playback where notes are getting stuck. New to Reaper here - I thought I would give it a try based on its superior price/performance ratio before dropping the money to upgrade to Logic Pro X. (I was able to return the much more expensive cable as well.Hello. I was a little concerned that I still couldn't hear anything through the computer's speakers, but soon realized that checking Anvil Studio's "Midi Thru" option was all it took to fix that. Just out of curiosity, I switched back to the cheap cable, and after some more adjusting, I got the same result. To my amazement, this actually made some notes appear on the staff. For about forty minutes, I had no success whatsoever (I kept getting messages that my OS wasn't supported when I tried to install the drivers), and just like before, in Anvil Studio the sound kept playing through the keyboard's speakers rather than my computer's.Įventually, I decided to hit Record and hit some random keys. I just spent $40 on another USB cable (an M-Audio MIDISPORT Uno) in the hopes that it would succeed where the cheap one I've been trying to use failed. Well, I'm feeling both satisfied and slightly foolish right now. Does anyone have any advice that might help me with this problem? I have no idea whether the problem lies with the keyboard, the cable, my computer, or my own incompetence. I'm pretty new to this, so naturally, I'm feeling a little lost here. (Before anyone asks: The MIDI cable's IN end *is* connected to the keyboard's OUT port, and I did select the USB port the MIDI cable was connected to as an input source when I was setting up AS.) I've searched for help online, and I've discovered dozens of possible solutions, but I have yet to find one that works for me. ![]() ![]() I've tried multiple similar programs (including LMMS and Aria Maestosa) as well as hooking the keyboard up to a different computer (running Windows 7), yet the problem still remains. The computer (a Gateway DX200X running Windows XP SP3) does seem to recognize the keyboard, but for some reason, Anvil Studio doesn't react in any way when I press a key. The computer recognized the cable and installed the hardware for it without any fuss, but after opening and configuring Anvil Studio, I was disappointed to find that happened when I tried playing some notes, they played through the keyboard's speakers. I recently got a used Yamaha EZ-20 keyboard from a thrift store and hooked it up to my computer with a cheap CDL Micro MIDI USB cable (which I decided to try because I didn't want to spend money on a more expensive one without trying this option first).
